Mount Taranaki - Wednesday, May 15, 2002

This is what the world looks like from 2518m up! Not bad, eh?
You can just see New Plymouth on the coastline.

The summit crater, with it's year round ice field.
Like a great gallah, i thought the summit was the nasty looking, steep
pinnacle on the left. Halfway up it, slowly picking my way over the steep,
icy rocks I noticed a big cairn and pole on the other side of the crater -
the summit - bugger.

Yay! Finally got to the proper summit. This is the 'Sharks Tooth', the nasty
pinnacle i started climbing.

The route down, back through the clouds, to the real world, 2500metres
below. (You can just see Ruapehu & Ngaurahoe on the horizon)
